Pilates

Change happens through movement. And movement heals.

Are you looking for a comprehensive exercise program that provides total body strength, mobility, and stretching benefits?

Pilates may be for you!

Pilates is an exercise system named after the man that invented it. It fundamentally aims to achieve strength, flexibility, and balance within the body. It combines specific movement patterns with breathing exercises designed to maximize efficiency and control.

From Joseph Pilates himself: "I must be right. Never an aspirin. Never injured a day in my life. The whole country, the whole world, should be doing my exercises. They'd be happier."

I have been practicing Pilates since 2008 and having been instructing since 2009. I have instructed both group and private classes in a fitness studio and I have worked in a physical therapy clinic that incorporated Pilates into the plan of care for most patients.

I love introducing pregnant and postpartum women to Pilates! It is filled with so many beneficial exercises that can be done throughout pregnancy and in the early postpartum period. This population is often underserved in the community and many women are unsure about what exercises are safe during this time. Many pregnant women have been scared by false information about exercise from well-meaning but misinformed family, friends, or healthcare providers.

Pilates is a great way to get in touch with your breathing and core muscles and to help prepare for labor, prevent back pain, and recover from diastasis recti or incontinence issues.
